The Portuguese totally embraced azulejos after their monarch Manuel I was fascinated by the magnificent beauty of the Moorish ornamental tiles while visiting the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain. The monarch was so taken with the Alhambra's interior magnificence that he immediately ordered his own palace in Portugal to be embellished with identical wall tiles. You've been tasked with decorating the walls of Evora's Royal Palace as a tile-laying artist.
Players take turns drafting colourful tiles from suppliers onto their player board in the game Azul. Later in the game, players earn points for how they decorated the palace with their tiles. Extra points are awarded for completing sets and certain patterns; squandered supplies lower the player's score. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.
For ages 8+ and 2-4 players. Each game takes 30-45 mins.
